It’s time to change the game.

We know this industry. We love it, but we understand what needs to change, and what’s on the horizon. That’s what we do at VEC: transform the way people in our field plan, design, and build. Your next job with us will be an open book, by-the-numbers, masterclass in project delivery.

Why VEC

To transform the way we plan, design, and build.

On time.
Under budget.
No kidding.

Design

Know what you're getting into.

For renovations of existing facilities, we’ll 3D laser-scan to create a detailed BIM Model of as-built conditions. This step lets you confirm accurate dimensions, understand the full utility layout, and more.

Anticipate the obstacles.

Our Method shifts MEP System Coordination and constructability analysis to the Design phase, where we can correct issues that would typically impact schedules and costs down the line. The earlier we get involved, the more unknowns we can resolve, lowering contingency across the project.

The not-so-rough draft.

We utilize BIM with a higher LOD (400) than almost any competitor, in the name of 100% spatial coordination. A slightly larger initial BIM investment translates to more accurate drawings and, in turn, more precise material requirements.

Pre-con

Like an instruction booklet.

We create a “LEGO Kit” for the owner, including the thorough Bill of Materials, detailed MEP Installation Drawings, and System Layout Points that correspond 1-to-1 with each drawing, saving tons of time and confusion. We won’t just tell you where everything goes, we cover the critical part — when it goes there.

An offer that can’t confuse.

After equipment buyout by the Owner, Contractors bid on the “LEGO Kit,” providing a detailed price/unit breakout that follows the owner’s purchased material quantities.

This is an immensely valuable step that builds on the accuracy of VEC’s drawings and models; Owners will be able to precisely estimate labor and material costs for future design changes, preventing dishonesty on the side of the contractor. Contractors, meanwhile, enjoy far less overall risk; although there’s no room to inflate costs, there’s also nearly no chance of losing big money based on early, lump-sum estimates.

Construction

Domo Arigato.

To aid in installation, we provide an on-site, Robotic Total Station that puts BIM and Layout information at the construction team’s fingertips.

Change is good (and easy).

Any owner-driven changes become new, fully
coordinated construction models, with detailed, estimated cost impact reports. If owner approval is granted, we’ll revise the installation “Lego Kit” and issue a CCO to the impacted contractors, using the initial price/unit breakout they provided (with escalation, if applicable).

Laser-focused.

We use 3D laser scans and/or 360 Photogrammetry throughout construction for QA/QC, as well as for progress tracking and as-built documentation, making maintenance and future work on the project a breeze.

Hand Over

The long game.

The hand-over to the Owner and Operations Team includes fully coordinated models and drawings that accurately reflect
the as-built condition and support custom HMI integration. These will be used for future facility improvements over the building’s lifecycle, which — along with maintenance — can make up some 70% of a project’s total cost.

Construction
needs predictability.

When you embark on a project that will last months and cost millions of dollars, wouldn’t it feel incredible to have every milestone outlined, every big decision planned, and every project team on the same page?

If that sounds like a fairytale, you haven’t worked with VEC, yet. We’ve been at the mercy of the other side, the “status quo.” Contractors that come in, bang out their trade services, and wash their hands of anything that goes wrong the next day. It’s what gives construction a reputation for time and cost overruns, and it’s way past time for a better approach.

We do things in the design phase, with a level of detail lesser AECO companies may call excessive, that set your project on a path of seamless collaboration, clash-elimination, and cost savings like you’ve never seen before. The methods we’ve developed blur the line between your building’s virtual model and the field, speeding up installation, reducing errors, and just plain making sense to the teams that implement them. That’s why we give you a Robotic Total Station. That’s why we 3D laser scan throughout construction, for QA/QC and as-built documentation.  That’s why we’re there with you every day, side-by-side, answering questions, analyzing, and making suggestions based on the success of 100 amazing projects we’ve been a part of in the last three years alone.
